P.P.P. Power Tools

You guys know i’m fond of a cheeky DIY. I’ve made a few bits and pieces for our home and for projects. From desks, to giant outdoor chalkboards and artwork to lighting, I love these pieces just a lil bit more as the finished article is always full of (mainly) fond memories. Now there are three things I couldn’t live without for these DIY missions: Number one: My trusty helpers, normally my pops or my husbandado (we got married very recently and I still can’t say the word husband without sniggering. I’m such a child). Whenever my olds visit, I generally have one or two “jobettes” lined up for my dad. He loves it really. Number two: An absolute must have is our ever growing collection of tools. They’ve filled our under-stairs cupboard and the boot of my car. I’ve inherited a very respectable set of tools from my dad who was a Design and Technology teacher back in the day (completely unrelated to my A* in GSCE Design and Technology everyone) and probably explains why …

The Shelfie

A few days ago I introduced you to my home office update, well my new DIY desk to be precise. I absolutely loved working in here last week but there were some bits that still needed sorting. Some of which involved a drill. So I smiled sweetly at my OH and thankfully, he took the hint. As you can see above, a new radiator has been fitted which i’m a little too excited about. I keep sticking my head under my desk for a peek and temp test. Aaanywaaaay…. We’ve also finally fitted the shelf that has been waiting in its packet all week. I wanted something slimline, minimal, unobtrusive and just big enough to keep all of the gubbins I need close by without it crowding up my desktop. After all, my desktop is far too sexy to be covered with all my shizzle. The Duraline photo shelf …

Bah Humbug

So yeah, it’s December. Which for me is a bit stressful. Apparently, we have to have loads of random stuff hanging up in and around our houses? Kept that quiet everyone, i’ve barely heard anyone mention Christmas at all…. Being a bit of a minimalist, clean lines, no faff etc, means the festive season leaves me torn. In a slightly Natalie Imbruglia-esque way. We all like a nice carol don’t we? A bit of mulled wine and a mince pie. But, my memories of Christmas, as a child at home are giving me flashbacks. Flashbacks of tinsel, shiny plastic bells, flashing lights in every window, angels, more angels, nativity scenes, candles, tinsel on banisters, hanging from the ceiling, wrapped around anything that was wrap worthy, blu tac, yellowing sellotape and these bloody things that we systematically had to fix back to the ceiling. Every morning. I’ve managed to get away with not really doing the full on Christmas thing so far, despite OH wanting shiny stuff and twinklies so bad. I’ve gotten away with keeping it …
