The Office Refit – Final Reveal

Remember the office refit I was working on? Here’s a lil recap: “I’m working with Visibilis, an Integrated Digital Marketing Agency. It’s my first dip into working in a commercial premises, but it’s good and am enjoying the experience of scaling up! The team of staff has reached capacity at their current office space prompting the move to a new, larger purpose-built office space in a swanky part of Leeds City Centre.” Before And here it was in March. A huge empty space, ready and waiting for its lovely, new residents. A month later, the layout had been solved, colour scheme decided upon, furniture had been ordered… You can read more about the project brief, colour scheme, layout and shopping list here if you’d like to check out the finer details. But to catch you up quickly i’ll post a few pics to give you the low down. Lots of paint + A load of brushes…. …. + Frogtape…  + A design from inside my busy mind = Turned out pretty good. The Office Refit

Remember me introducing you to the office refit project i’m working on? Yes, that’s the one. Well things are moving forward rather nicely now. And i’ve got stuff to show you. I’m working with Visibilis, an Integrated Digital Marketing Agency. It’s my first dip into working in a commercial premises, but it’s good and am enjoying the experience of scaling up! The team of staff has reached capacity at their current office space prompting the move to a new, larger purpose-built office space in a swanky part of Leeds City Centre. So swanky in fact, you need a small bank loan to be able to afford the parking outside. Anyway, enough about me and my parking issues… My brief: Personalise the space. Solve layout. Plan an office that can hold 12 desk spaces. Use two existing Ikea desks and office chairs Include space for wall monitor. Add colour. But something light. Scandinavian style seemed to be ticking the boxes. Source affordable lighting that didn’t take up desk space or need wiring in. Add a break out …

Wallpaper Overdose

You guys gotta help me. I’ve been in a serious wallpaper haze for the past week. I’m totally binged out on pattern, design, graphics, colour, texture…. My OH is about two more times away of being asked “What do you think of this one?” from punching me in the eye. Just to catch you up, in my last post, I gave you a lil’ tour of Making Spaces, HQ. The feedback was pretty awesome. And unexpected. Made me super smiley, so thank you very much indeed. This is the offending wall. It needs help. And i’ll tell you for why…. Our Heal’s Club sofa is quite possibly the most comfortable sofa ever. And huge. It can fit two people lying down with ease. But it’s also a big soft, velvety chocolate blob that does not photograph well. This is how the room looked last summer, in a shoot for HomeStyle Magazine. This is the equivalent of my sofa’s school photo. Standing straight, on its best behaviour, with nicely combed hair. Lots has changed in the room since then. …

My MCM Geometric Desk

Behold. My new delicious work space. I have managed to design and produce this space with a few left over items from my capacious loft space, coupled in with a new lamp and Eames Eiffel chair as a treat from me to me. Thank you me! See that crazy mid-century modern inspired geometric desk top? “Yes, Karen we see it. It’s hard not to” Well that was about to get kicked to the kerb **finger snap**. A bit of old furniture board from a super ugly old flat pack desk. It’s actually the perfect size for my tiny office space. I don’t have clients visit at home and i’m only little. So for me, this space is pretty much bob on. Here is how it looked before: The offending piece of furniture board. There were bits of the “birch effect” foil surface missing. Some idiot had done their Christmas selotaping and used the edge of the desk as a tape holder. Face-palm! It all started when I wanted a rug. A black and white geometric …
