The Pod

I last mentioned “The Pod” in the Peignoir and Worsted reveal post. You can see the flash of Farrow & Ball’s Inchyra Blue through the door at the top of the landing here: The Pod, named mainly due to its size, 1.5m x 1.9m is just about big enough to fit a single bed in. A single bed and one small book. It’s actually used as the home office. Not the most successful one, however: Before It had gotten so cramped the homeowner had set up office-camp on the kitchen table downstairs. Not great when you’re working from home. Seeing your computer all the time means you’re switched on 24/7. I know a few of you out there can relate to that. It’s not good for a healthy work/life balance. Things that needed sorting were: The desk was too deep and interfered with the door architrave. There’s not nearly enough storage but the amount of “stuff” (which needed downsizing). Electrical trunking ran across the top of the desk meaning cables were trailing all over the place. It felt cold …

The Shelfie

A few days ago I introduced you to my home office update, well my new DIY desk to be precise. I absolutely loved working in here last week but there were some bits that still needed sorting. Some of which involved a drill. So I smiled sweetly at my OH and thankfully, he took the hint. As you can see above, a new radiator has been fitted which i’m a little too excited about. Radiators are always so damn ugly, but I adore the look of column radiators. So every time we get around to updating a radiator, I get lil butterflies. (Weirdo). I keep sticking my head under my desk for a peek and temp test. Aaanywaaaay…. We’ve also finally fitted the shelf that has been waiting in its packet all week. I wanted something slimline, minimal, unobtrusive and just big enough to keep all of the gubbins I need close by without it crowding up my desktop. After all, my desktop is far too sexy to be covered with all my shizzle. The Duraline photo shelf …

Some Hella Sexy Shelves

Happy New Year! What better way to celebrate the start of 2016 than eyeing up some rather sexual shelves? I know. I’m a mind reader. You were just thinking about how fed up you were with all that festive nonsense and just wanted to ogle some bloody good shelves. Let me help…. If you remember where we were in the Sherwood Forest project, we were eagerly awaiting the creation and fitting of some rather special storage. Cue, Bare Joinery, an amazingly creative duo of highly skilled joiners, crafters, makers, movers and shakers. Lucky for me, they’re based in Leeds. About five miles away from my project. But they work all over the country and are always mega busy.   The shelving design. In my mind. After Bare Joinery’s initial visit, where I waved my hands around a bit and pointed a lot, Evan and Chris managed to decipher my shelving design ramblings and created exactly what I had envisioned. Genius. I didn’t want any more furniture taking up floor space but the room needed to house …
