Homebuilding & Renovating – Do you need an interior designer?

Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine

So, do you? It’s a good question isn’t it? And one i’ve discussed a kabillion times on here before. But I wanted to show you a recent article from Homebuilding & Renovating magazine’s June edition where myself and the “work-wife”, Fiona Duke (from Fiona Duke Interiors) are asked this very question.

Although we're saying goodbye to that lovely (if brief) weather, we're saying hello to the latest issue of Homebuilding & Renovating! ⁣ We take a look at how you can design a kitchen on a budget, create the perfect wetroom, and drought-proof your garden. ⁣ Find design inspiration with our guide to freestanding vs built-in baths and our gorgeous architectural moodboard for your dream staircase. Plus, we discuss if it is worth hiring an interior designer for your project as well as taking a tour of our readers' beautiful homes — this month includes a stunning oak-frame single storey home, a contemporary self-build in Cambridgeshire and a family home transformed by a barn conversion and extension in Yorkshire! ⁣ .⁣ #homebuilding #selfbuild #extension #barnconversion #budget #diy #kitchen #kitchendesign #interiorinspo #inspiration #ideas #home #interiordesign #bathroom #bathroomideas #livingroom #bedroom #instainspo #magazine #subscribe #lifestyle #advice #publishing #contemporary #traditional #architecture #gardendesign #landscape #stairs #inspiration ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

Now, because like everything me and Ms Duke does, with regards to our job, career, dare I even say, calling, we always give 100%, and answering the questions in this article was no different. So much so I wanted to share this piece with you all as I thought, well what the heck, i’ve already spent bloody hours writing this up for a magazine, and it’s actually really good, some of you lovely lot might find it useful, so why not post it here?

Page 1 – Fiona is asked;

‘WHAT DOES AN INTERIOR DESIGNER DO?’

Onto Fiona’s second question below…

HOW MUCH DOES AN INTERIOR DESIGNER COST?

(Ha, good question, I left that one for Fi, good luck with answering that one! Let’s see how she does shall we…?)

And now, i’m asked one of my favourite questions;

WHEN SHOULD YOU BRING IN AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?

And last one for me;

HOW DO YOU GET THE MOST FROM AN INTERIOR DESIGNER?

That was an interesting one to answer. I knew the answer, but hadn’t ever had to sit down and think about the answer before. So I enjoying writing that one up.

You might have also noticed at the beginning of the article a mention for the Interior Design Collective, which if you don’t know, Fiona and I co-founded in August 2017. If you are looking to work with an interior designer, then jump onto the website as we have 27 of the best designers based across the UK. Very proud to see the IDC getting a mention in print.

Right, that’s it for today, i’m off to another consultation this morning,… Toodlepip!

    Hey,

    I certainly believe that if you’re redecorating your house from scratch then you may need an advice or help of the interior designer. Ultimately, he is the one who is professional and understand the technicalities to give allocated spaces with right decorating idea so it should looks good.

    Thanks
