Remember this room? The Bedroom 4 Project.

Yes, that’s right. This one. Well you may (or may not) remember it’s been going through a long and winding renovation. Mainly because period properties treat you mean to keep you keen. Whatever looks like a simple job of, “just a lick of paint” becomes a whole heap of pain.

Good pain though, the pain that’s totally worth it when the transformation is as good as this.

Once all of the re-wiring, plumbing, new wall was built, old fireplace ripped out, original tiles around the hearth uncovered and a reclaimed cast iron one fitted, the room was put back together and all re-plastered. A blank canvas.

This is what we were aiming for:

And do you know what, it’s almost flipping there. I drove over last Friday to unload just a few bits.

I just about fit in myself!

So are you ready for some pre-reveal pics? For those not familiar with how I build up (draw out as long as possible) to the final reveal, these are your little taster shots of the room finally coming together before the FINAL REVEAL post. I always love doing those. Hopefully I will be back with that next month!

So here’s where we’ve got to so far….

Walls, ceiling, woodwork and floorboards in Abigail Ahern’s Madison Grey

The stunning Bubble Chandelier is from Dowsing & Reynolds. I made a little noise when I walked in and saw the dark walls and light for the first time.  It sure is something!

In the background, you can see the Alana Dressing Table from MADE.COM which should have been copper but looks chrome so we’re currently dealing with that one. And the Lulea grey and copper stool is from Maisons Du Monde.

The burnt orange Seattle armchair from MADE.COM (now sold out) adds a real flash of colour to this alcove. Along with some artwork my clients already had lying around, waiting for a new home.

The orange butterfly was a complete fluke, but it looks beautiful next to the rusty velvet chair and against the dark wall doesn’t it!?

The fireplace has been painted in Craig & Rose’s Copper effect paint. Still needs another coat, but it’s looking great so far. You can also just about see the walnut and black hanging rail to the far right of this picture.

The Elori Hanging Rail from La Redoute (currently sold out) will provide guests a space to hang their wares.

On the dark grey floorboards there is the beautiful Mad Men SoHo Copper rug from Louis de Poortere. The copper threads just adding a little flash of light and bling to this dark floor.

And one last flash of copper, it’s the wall behind the bed.

There’s still another coat to add and then the Patina effect to play with. Have a look at the video below on how it’s done.
