I’ve had a few new deliveries over the past few months courtesy of MADE, the last being a bit of a biggie, so thought i’d share some piccies with you, because i’m nice like that.
“Meet Cecil. A sophisticated armchair in a stylish mid-century shape designed for a contemporary home.”
Cecil caught my eye a couple of months ago. It’s such an iconic shape, with those tufted buttons and visible solid oak frame. Not to mention the plush velvet hues and soft leathers on offer.
I literally had no room for this chair anywhere at home, but I needed some of that grass green velvet in my life. You might remember me writing about Pantone’s colour of the year; Greenery a few months ago.
Isn’t Cecil a dreamboat?!
Now, green isn’t a colour I would have necessarily chosen for this room, given that it’s teal (not blue as the pictures might suggest), but the green doesn’t half pop off those walls. I rather like it.

I've finally managed to get a decent shot of our new ceiling light in the bedroom. I do love a deconstructed chandelier, but alas for rooms with 2.4m ceilings they're just too big. The Tangle light from @madedotcom is perfect for our midcentury sized house. Just enough drama without taking an eye out. And since I painted the ceiling dark in here, we couldn't bloody see with our old light. This triple threat light is just the ticket for evening and early morning illumination. Even my hubby likes it. And my dad. And my mum. That never happens! Oh Cecil, you are a looker.
And he’s real comfy you know with its feather filled seat cushion, and the low back means it’s perfect to squeeze into a room of smaller proportions. Our house is a mid-century number, so it makes sense to stick with mid-century scale furniture.
Say hi to Obie too, yes the brass floor lamp with black marble base is from MADE too, adding much needed illumination to this side of the bedroom. I absolutely love the simplicity of the design and it sure does kick out a fab light for reading (and finding contact lenses on the floor).
So there you have it, you’ve seen the latest additions to chez Making Spaces. What do you think of Cecil? I’ve got a few friends lined up to come and meet Cecil soon, because some of my friends are as sad as I am.
