It’s no surprise to hear how much art plays a huge part of our home and all of my interiors projects. It’s integral to any room, in fact, I have been known to design an entire room around a single piece.
Valspar’s Midtown Magic was chosen for our bedroom walls as a backdrop to The Chinese Girl by Angelique Houtkamp.
I also purchase a lot of pieces, having no idea where they’ll end up. I just know I need them somewhere and the place will make itself clear in due course. One such piece was Abyss of the Disheartened IX by Heather Landis.
I spotted this around the time me and t’tother half were due to get married. We had a very small, low key wedding, with only 20 people in total, including myself, the groom and our 4 y/o. This picture, for some reason, just made me think about marriage. Don’t know why. But it did. Perhaps it was the dress? Anyway, as we’re not the kind of folk to have our wedding photos up around the house, this was going to be the image that represented that day in our lives. I just love how still and calm the couple are. Both individual beings, but together, connected and content. Simply floating, captured in a perfect moment of symmetry.
Heather Landis created a collection of images under the Abyss of of the Disheartened title. They are all stunning, although my preference is for the images that don’t show their faces. For me, they’re more poignant. See what you think.
Beautiful no? You can take a look at all of Heather’s work, including the Abyss of the Disheartened prints at Society6.
So, the good news is, I have one large, unframed 39″ x 28″ print of Abyss of the Disheartened IX, worth £65 available to giveaway to one lucky art loving individual. Whoop!
