Faffing with furnishings

Since my last post, where I gave you a little peep at the pre- final reveal for the loft extension, quite a few of you asked where the throw on the bed was from.

Nice init?

Twas my Christmas pressie from the brother and sis in law. At £39.99 from Maisons Du Monde it was a steal, however, i’m afraid to say it’s now sold out. And i’m not surprised, as all things Moroccan, ethnic or tribal are hot to trot this year.

EVORA blanket – Maisons Du Monde

At 160 x 210cm it’s plenty big enough to sit across the entire width of the bed and hang over the sides. Really don’t like it when they come up too short and simply rest over the top. But that’s me, being fussy.

They had (yes, past tense) matching cushion covers too. Also now sold out. Gah! Although they do still have the MAKASSAR black and white blanket available at £34.99 if you’re looking for a similar style and size.

As i’m gassing on about the throw, I may as well give you a run down on what else made it onto the bed.

There’s not a lot of furniture in the room, blinds, not curtains, floorboards not carpet, so the bed was going to one of the only places to add some softness to the room. What better than pompoms? pom-pom-cushionThese linen pompom trim cushion covers (now sold out again. Sorry!) from H&M at only £7 ish each were just the ticket. Nice and simple. Not too fussy. The mini pompoms preventing the head of the bed from looking like a row of rectangles and squares. A bit of fun against the rustic brick wall and industrial conduit lighting.

What else?

HELM bedding – La Redoute

La Redoute came up trumps with their HELM bedding range which is made in hemp. Duvet covers, sheets, square and rectangular pillowcases come in Blue, Khaki, Sand and Black. Perfect if you’re going for that neutral, “unmade bed” Instagram friendly look.  You know the one I mean…

I used some of my Christmas spends (thanks Ma & Pa) to treat myself to some fancy bedding with 30% off. I was expecting it to be quite stiff upon arrival, but it was super soft straight out of the packet. We had guests the next day and they commented on how lovely the bedding was to snuggle into. Soft and crinkly. Perfect.

H&M Washed Linen Bedding

H&M also offer affordable linen bedding sets. Even more so in one of their “10% off with free delivery” events. Unfortunately they didn’t have the colour or size I needed, although when their white king size linen set is back in stock, I may just have to jump and grab one while I can. They don’t seem to be in stock very often.

So those are the pieces that made it onto the bed. Bedding is often the forgotten bit of a room design, but it can really make or break the overall look. The bed really is the focal point of any bedroom, the clue’s in the name really.

Do you have any top places to shop for bedding?

Can’t wait for the reveal reveal! Liking all the bed linen you have featured, this would be perfect for my son’s room at uni, as he never irons his bed stuff bless him. I’ve found TKMaxx or HomeSense have some good bargains with some good designer bargains, ie Nordic House, Ralph Laren and Orla Kieley to name a few.

    • I don’t iron bedding (or anything else) either. Life’s too short. Crinkles all the way!! I do love a mooch around TK Maxx for bedding, but i’m a Euro sized girl and they don’t seem to have many of those sizes, mainly UK bedding sizes….

All about TK Maxx for bedding, can be hit and miss but love finding a quality find that’s affordable.
