There isn’t a room in our house that doesn’t have a print, photo, or picture. Most rooms have several. My current stash has taken me about a decade to collect and source. The latest two can be found over at my Ikea Art Event post from last month. I’m rather a big fan of bold graphic designs. Bizarreness. Urban art. Slogans or quotes. Anything that I might look at which may make me think about my day differently.
I thought i’d share with you all what’s on my walls.
Will start in the kitchen.
Make Art Not War by Shepard Fairey
Obey – Andre the Giant by Shepard Fairey
Any self professing lover of street art must own one of these. Or at least have it as their screen saver.
Drift by David Walker
(with my son’s hand painted red bus and handprints from toddler group to the right).
The most beautiful detail.
The living room. Where I tried my best to keep it simple, but so far we have six prints.
Is Hate Too Strong A Word by Lucy McLauchlan
A huge beautiful print, and probably my favourite.
Faces by Lucy McLauchlan.
You can read more about Lucy McLauchlan’s work here.
The Shining by Simon Walker from onthewall. A complete bargain at £7.99.
I love this film. I remember watching it when I was about 15 and it scared the absolute bejeezus out of me. This print was so subtle and laid back but with all the right details in.
“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
Yes. Yes it does.
Become Who You Are from Etsy
Paint it Black by Shepard Fairey
A cover from Projekt – The Polish Journal of Art and Design
Everyone should have at least one rhino in their house… I think.
Our hallway and landing are also pretty well stocked. Here are a few.
The family gallery wall. Old photos, new photos, pictures from toddler group and things I printed myself.
Check out my glasses. Penfold! The print at the top is a photo my other half took of a faulty Plumen lightbulb. I loved it so much, it was printed, framed and hung. We also got a replacement bulb sent too. Thanks Plumen!
Our landing has three huge posters.
Alice in Wunderland – A poster we bought from our trip to Berlin.
I have no idea what it says.
Banksy Lithograph – Tesco Soup Cans
Classic Banksy.
Parody of Warhol’s Campbell’s Tomato Soup.
Curious Creature by Ashley Percival
A stag, wearing a scarf, on a bike. My son loves this one.
Just going to pop to the toilet now.
This is the Safety Swimming Poster that I grew up with. Swimming lessons in the 80’s. Brilliant! Bringing back memories for anyone? People always comment on it if they use the loo when they visit. Always makes me smile.
Petting is such an uncomfortable word, no?
And on to the bedroom.
Birds of a Feather by Vicky Scott
Beautifully delicate and feminine.
There are a few others dotted around the place and i’ve constantly got a stash of Ikea Ribba Frames under my desk so there’s always a good chance my collection will continue to spread sideways. I really do #lovemywalls. Every picture takes me back to a time and place and a specific memory. It’s like a little life history dotted around the house.
Would love to see what you guys have. Tweet me your pics and don’t forget to use #loveyourwalls as the hashtag.
